Named one of 2019’s “Most Influential Private Equity Investors & Advisors” by the Los Angeles Business Journal, Rita O’Neill is a partner in Sullivan & Cromwell’s Los Angeles office and serves as co-head of the Global Private Equity Group. Rita has a broad-based practice that includes advising both U.S. and non-U.S. public and private companies on some of their most significant M&A transactions, joint ventures and securities offerings, as well as providing general corporate advice on disclosure and governance. Her experience spans numerous industries, including apparel, financial institutions, healthcare and life sciences, semiconductors and telecommunications.Rita recently advised Ares, as a member of a consortium co-led by Ares and Leonard Green & Partners, in the acquisition of Press Ganey and in its strategic partnership with DuPage Medical Group; Royal Philips in its acquisitions of the Healthcare Information Systems business of Carestream Health, Respiratory Technologies, Spectranetics, Electrical Geodesics, Wellcentive and Volcano Corporation; SPO Partners in the sale of its aggregates business to Vulcan Materials; Lion Capital in its acquisition of a minority interest in Authentic Brands Group; FilmYard Holdings, parent company of MIRAMAX, in MIRAMAX’s acquisition by beIN MEDIA GROUP; and OTPP in its acquisitions of PODS and Seacube.Rita is co-chair of the national Women in M&A Network (WiMA) which seeks to advance the success and leadership of women in the field of M&A across the legal, banking, in-house, business development and boardroom functions. She also serves as co-chair of the ABA’s Women in M&A Subcommittee, which was formed to increase the retention of women in M&A and the co-chair of the ABA’s Acquisition of Public Companies Subcommittee. Rita has been recognized among the Daily Journal’s Top Women Lawyers and the Profiles in Diversity Journal’s Women Worth Watching, and by the LABJ as one of the “Women Making a Difference” in Los Angeles.
