About Rissa Jackson

I am a Fullstack Software Engineer. I work primarily with Laravel (PHP) and Vue (JavaScript). As well as Laravel\'s related technologies. I\'m grateful for all that programming has taught me about problem-solving, and love to share what I learn with others in the form of talks, pairing, and mentoring! Here is my GitHub: https://github.com/rissajackson Outside of Software Development I also helped found the 501c3 non-profit Austin Acro Advocates where I served as President for over 2 years. In a previous chapter, I lived in China for two years and taught English. I bring all the skills and strengths I\'ve learned from my previous chapters into my work as a programmer. In my free time, you can generally find me doing handstands, partner acrobatics, or dancing. My favorite styles of dancing are West Coast Swing, Salsa, and Bachata.

   May 2022 — Present

   Led initiative to refactor duplicate ways of doing feature flags to ensure all feature flags were consistent• Led team to victory in a company hack event, came up with the idea, and created the cross-functional team of 14 people who were developers, designers, product managers, and onboarding specialists ⁃ Coordinating between 5 mini teams, dev work, and creating demo/trailer for the project in the company hack event• Created an initiative that cut weeks off of integral feature work with a hard deadline saving the company money for developer time• Led and overhauled sprint planning, captained multiple features, learned and taught the release process to the dev team
