About Riss Getts
In professional speak - my work is affordable housing service provision and development. In my own language - I\'m most interested in (a) innovative financial models for community-owned real estate (emphasis on housing and agriculture) and (b) bringing fun, education, and ecological connectedness to land use and the built environment via creative long-range planning processes and housing design. I love working with rural communities; I consider them to be critical sites of innovation and resilience in the face of climate, ecological, and social disruption. Inspired by the ethos of thinkers like Murray Bookchin and Robin Wall Kimmerer, I aim to bridge rigorous planning and financial frameworks with imagination, relationality, and place-based wisdom.
