ABOUT RISHI MATHUR
Having graduated from Sanskriti School in New Delhi, I embarked on an exciting academic journey at The University of Manchester, where I am currently pursuing a BSc (Hons) in Psychology on a scholarship. My educational path reflects my deep-seated passions for both psychology and information technology, fields in which I have consistently excelled since my school days. I’m currently a full-time City Year mentor at Trafford Alternative Education Provision, delivering 1 to 1 and small-group support for pupils with special education and additional needs, running clubs and targeted English & Maths interventions while completing City Year’s Leadership Development Program (CMI Level 3). In the realm of information technology, I\'ve showcased my skills by developing websites and organising various tech-related competitions, demonstrating my aptitude for innovation and leadership. Despite focusing on psychology at university, I remain engaged in IT endeavours, balancing my academic pursuits with my continued involvement in this dynamic field. While striving towards my goal of becoming a clinical psychologist, I\'ve embraced music as a beloved hobby, finding solace and inspiration through playing the guitar. This enduring passion for music has been a constant source of strength and resilience throughout my life. In addition to my academic and personal interests, I am actively engaged in part-time work as an IT/General steward at the UoM Conferences and Venues team, where I contribute to organising various conferences and events. This role allows me to apply my technical skills in a practical setting while also gaining valuable experience in event management. I’m also an events assistant at the Manchester Museum and the Whitworth Art Gallery, helping with manual handling, event setups and coordination for weddings, celebrations and conferences, which has taught me how logistics, calm problem-solving and people skills bring events to life. Furthermore, volunteering remains central to how I learn and give back. I’ve volunteered at The Second Inning Home in New Delhi providing psychological and practical support to elderly residents, helped raise digital-safety awareness with the CyberPeace, and I also volunteered with the Willowbank Project in Manchester, where I provided supervised childcare and delivered play-based activities designed to promote children’s social, emotional and developmental wellbeing. These roles have strengthened my pastoral skills, cultural sensitivity and ability to work flexibly with vulnerable groups.
