ABOUT RISHI DESAI
I’m a fourth-year student at the University of Waterloo, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computational Mathematics and Computer Science. My academic foundation in logic, data structures, and algorithms has shaped how I approach technical challenges with structure, curiosity, and a focus on impact. Currently, I’m working at Intact Financial Corporation on the Data & Analytics team, where I’ve been focused on building and optimizing data pipelines, automation workflows, and reporting solutions. I work with tools like Python, SQL, Snowflake, and Power BI to transform raw XML and policy data into clean, structured datasets for analysis. I’ve also contributed to pipeline performance tuning, validation processes, and internal dashboarding to support operational reporting. Previously, I worked at MedMe Health (YC W21) as an Internal Tools Developer, where I built backend automation tools using Python and Windmill to improve deployment reliability and reduce manual overhead. I’m passionate about combining data, automation, and thoughtful engineering to solve real-world problems, especially in systems that drive decisions at scale.
