ABOUT RICARDO GOMEZ

In VFX, I’ve found the meeting point between the technical and the artistic, a space where I use light to shape and serve storytelling. This intersection has defined my approach as a lighting artist and lead. I’ve collaborated across departments to bridge creative and technical goals, leading CG teams on Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, Atlas, and The Meg 2 at Netflix (Scanline VFX), achieving photoreal results and seamless visual integration between plates and CG.I’m currently at LAIKA, helping define the tone of key shots on Wildwood and ensuring sequences align with the director’s vision. My work often involves developing lighting rigs, guiding teams of lighters, and maintaining a consistent visual language across sequences.I’ve contributed to projects recognized with the industry’s highest honors, including Emmy-winning visual effects on Game of Thrones and Oscar-nominated work on Free Guy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.Guided by the same curiosity and passion that first drew me to this craft, I continue blending creativity and problem-solving to help tell stories through imagery that feels indistinguishable from reality.Skills & ToolsLighting & Compositing: Katana, Houdini, Solaris, Maya, Nuke, 3ds MaxRender Engines: V-Ray, RenderMan, ArnoldWorkflows: USD-based pipelines, Feature Animation, Look Development, Lighting Direction, Photoreal RenderingAdditional: Flowline, Photoshop, Mudbox, Hiero, ShotGrid, LinuxREEL LINK:https://vimeo.com/94•••••69
