About Chris Riley

I am an engineering manager with 20 years of diverse energy industry expertise, with a majority of my career spent in upstream oil and gas at Shell. I have a passion for taking on tough projects and developing the leaders of tomorrow. I have worked in a variety of leadership positions, including roles as the Development Manager for Shell’s Deep Basin project in Western Canada, an area manager in Shell\'s Permian Basin Asset in West Texas, and as the Development Manager for Perdido. Perdido is the world’s deepest spar and second deepest offshore production platform. I then led our Development projects in Rio de Janeiro as the GM Development for Shell Brazil in the prolific pre-salt. I am currently heading the Deep Water Development & Subsurface organization for Shell\'s Gulf of Mexico, which includes 9 offshore facilities, numerous tiebacks, and two megaprojects under construction. My early career was spent in a variety of drilling roles of increasing responsibility, including experience in both onshore and offshore operations, as well as shipyards around the world. I have also worked on new play entries, acquisitions, as well as corporate strategy and planning. In addition to having a degree in Chemical Engineering from Auburn University, I have also completed an MBA at Duke University focused on Decision Models, Global Financial Management, Entrepreneurship, Venture Capital, and Corporate Strategy.
