ABOUT RILEY MCCONNELL

The mental health field isn’t just a job for me — it’s a commitment I’ve carried through every stage of my work and life. With a B.S. in Psychology from Colorado State University and years of hands-on experience, I’ve supported individuals of all ages through moments of deep vulnerability, transition, and crisis.Most recently, I served as a Crisis Specialist for 988 and Colorado Crisis Services, offering immediate support to individuals experiencing mental health and trauma-related emergencies via phone, text, and chat. Whether I’m assessing risk, de-escalating high-intensity situations, or mentoring peers on best practices, I lead with empathy, steadiness, and clinical intuition.My roots are in behavioral therapy, where I spent over three years working with children and families navigating complex emotional, developmental, and behavioral needs. Across center-based, in-home, and telehealth settings, I’ve prioritized dignity, cultural humility, and collaborative, individualized care.I’m particularly passionate about the space where direct support meets bigger-picture change. Crisis work, case management, training, advocacy… these are the parts of the job that really light me up. I’m excited to keep growing in roles where I can not only show up for people in the moment, but also help improve the systems we’re all working in. At the end of the day, I want to be someone who makes things feel a little safer, a little less hopeless… someone others can count on in the tough moments.I absolutely love connecting with fellow professionals who care deeply about mental health, community care, and building systems that actually serve our society; people deserve better, and the work won’t wait.
