ABOUT RILEY STERN
I am a fourth-year Honors student at the University of Minnesota, pursuing a multidisciplinary education across economics, applied mathematics, public health, and demographic studies. I am driven to understand complex systems and how they impact greater societal and environmental well-being, specifically issues related to population health, human rights, and geographic disparities. As an undergraduate, I have gained experience in quantitative and statistical research with large data sets, and have worked on projects related to climate policy and community driven environmental solutions. I have also developed skills in journalistic writing and scientific communication. In addition, I have become heavily involved in my University\'s Human Rights Program, both as a student organizer and research assistant. My long-term goal is to integrate my education and professional experiences to explore opportunities that leverage quantitative research and statistical analysis of large population data. I hope to work in areas related to environmental public policy research, resource rights, clean energy and energy justice, sustainable development, decarbonization efforts, along with climate data journalism and information dissemination. Overall, I am passionate about using big data for social good!
