ABOUT RIKKILEE PIATOCHA
I have had a passion for the legal field for as long as I can remember. During my high school work experience, I was chosen to work at the local city hall with the city clerk. Attending council meetings, the court room and gaining that first hand experience, truly solidified my career choice. For the past 12+ years, I have worked as a legal professional with a demonstrated history of working in all areas of law. I completed my Legal Administration Certificate in 2009. A number of years later, I completed my Paralegal Certificate from Capilano University. Throughout my legal professional career I have had the opportunity to draft routine correspondence, applications, subpoenas, affidavits and various other court related documents. My primary focus area has been personal injury, but I have had experience in residential school claims, conveyancing, wills and estates, general litigation, contracts, criminal, family, corporate/commercial and immigration law. Within my employment background, I obtained over 5 years of management experience; both at the retail and office levels. These professional accomplishments provided me with first-hand insight to the recruitment processes, performance management, training and development, metrics, the Lean Method, and setting quantifiable measures to gain long-term performance. I was able to gain professional growth in leadership, problem solving, team building, interpersonal skills, sales and conflict resolution. Some of my greatest accomplishments in these roles were assisting in cost reduction incentives, quality control, employee engagement, and establishing standard operating procedures. Coupled with my legal education, I have taken various additional courses at the university level. My primary areas of focus have been criminology, business administration, arts and human resources. I also have volunteered to be fully engaged in the Occupational Health and Safety Committee, First Aid, my union, and strata council. Hosting events, facilitating training, creating departmental newsletters, training members on Occupational Health and Safety procedures, and speaking at conventions and conferences have been some of my accomplishments in these volunteer roles. I am a strong advocate and activist for diversity, inclusion and equality within our communities, schools and employment. I am always up for that new challenge or experience.\"When life\'s gives me lemons - I make lemonade!\" When I have spare time, I enjoy researching, reading, travelling and spending quality time with my family.
