I didn’t start in tech.I graduated in psychology and statistics, and for a while, I thought I’d be heading down a totally different road.But I kept finding myself drawn to solving problems, automating tedious processes, and making sense of messy data. Eventually, I decided to take the leap, and it changed everything.I started small:I automated transaction audits from insurance carriers which covered missed payments and flagged underpaid commissionsI built visualizations in Domo and Tableau using SQL so people could see what was really happeningBut the more I learned, the more I built.The more I built, the more I loved it.Now, I spend my time creating automated workflows within AWS’s serverless infrastructure, building end-to-end pipelines with Typescript, that move, clean, and deliver data across systems.That includes: Designing scalable ingestion-to-delivery flows using Lambda, S3, SQS, and DynamoDB Developing small full stack apps to manage business processes Automating licensing updates for thousands of agents every day Writing clean, reusable logic in Typescript, Python, SQL, and Node.js Replacing multi-hour manual work with fast, reliable toolsWhat started as a small affinity for improving my own workflows became a full career in development.If you’re looking to switch careers, if you’re staring at the steep learning curve and wondering if it’s possible, I’ve been there.It is.And if you’re wondering if it’s worth it?I’ll just say this:I genuinely love what I do.
