ABOUT RIC ROBINS
I\'m lucky to be able to say I have worked for the Met Office, for over 40 years. My roles have been varied in type and location; operational roles forecasting weather impacts on activities and assets; operations management leading the delivery of operational services across government and industry; business development across government and commercial industries ranging from commercial aviation to energy network management; and product strategy lead for our expertise services. I\'m now exploring the future of human expertise in weather-based decision making. As automation takes over some of the routine tasks for our operational meteorologists and analytical tools become available to them, there will be opportunities to exploit their expertise to support the more complex decisions that our weather and changing climate influence. I\'m looking for opportunities to demonstrate the value of the expert supporting decision-making where weather has a key influence such as from a safety or efficiency perspective. Whether you choose Met Office as your meteorological provider or not, we welcome interactions with industry actors to improve overall UK business efficiency, safety and resilience. We partner with companies, agencies and regulatory bodies to develop future services based on emerging science and meteorology capability. Outside work, I\'m passionate about football, having spent years coaching youth and adult football. I take coaching into my workplace to help develop talent. I would like to engage more in leadership coaching forums to share knowledge and best practice. Oh, and I also brew beer from grain and hops, which makes me popular with my neighbours.
