About Ricky Lian

Hi! I’m Ricky Lian, a passionate Finance student at San Francisco State University and an MLT Career Prep Fellow with hands-on experience in banking, financial leadership, and business operations. I’m passionate about building a career in financial services where I can combine analytical thinking, client-facing work, and decision making!I began my career at Citibank as a Bank Teller and was promoted to Universal Banker within 8 months in recognition of strong performance and initiative. In my role, I provide financial services by managing high-volume transactions, advising on banking products, and driving qualified referrals through consultative client engagement. I also played a key role in the rollout of a new teller system by quickly learning and adapting to updated processes, which led my manager to assign me to support multiple branches in assisting with their implementations and ensuring smooth transitions. This role has been my entry point into the financial services industry and has strengthened my interest in banking, wealth management, and financial advisory work.Alongside my professional experience, I hold multiple finance leadership roles. As Director of Alumni Relations and former Treasurer within Alpha Kappa Psi, I’ve managed fundraising initiatives, built financial tracking systems, and led financial literacy programming for the campus community. I also manage budgets for a competitive soccer club and co-organized a charity tournament that raised over for humanitarian relief in Myanmar.Earlier in my journey, I co-founded a small restaurant and worked in hospitality management, where I learned to manage daily operations, handle responsibility under pressure, and earn customer trust. Those experiences shaped my work ethic and attention to detail, which I now bring into finance. I also tutor SAT Math, creating personalized study plans that have helped improve my students’ average scores.I’m excited to continue growing in financial services, learning from mentors, and contributing to organizations that value integrity, inclusion, and long-term impact.
