About Ricki Lewis
My retirement lasted a mere two months, December and January, as 2024 became 2025. As science in the US implodes, not only at its base but at every level, I can’t remain silent. So I’m back to writing. I\'m the author of three dozen textbook editions, other books, and thousands of articles. My PhD is in genetics. Each day brings a new nightmare. The forced resignation of Peter Marks, director of the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research at FDA, was a death knell. I encountered his leadership when writing my book “The Forever Fix: Gene Therapy and the Boy Who Saved It,” as well as when attending meetings to write my many articles, textbooks, and other books.Imagine the US a decade from now. Infectious diseases will return and resurge, as vaccines vanish under a tsunami of fear and misinformation. The processes of mutation, recombination, and natural selection will seed new epidemics and pandemics that will spread ever more readily as climate change accelerates. We will have no new gene or cell therapies, no new targeted cancer drugs, no more discoveries as preclinical research collapses. All of us who love science must speak up, write, or call. We must all do something. We cannot let ignorance and arrogance kill us. Please get in touch if I can help.
