Rick Zou is an entertainment attorney at Tencent in its Interactive Entertainment Global Group.Prior to joining Tencent, Rick work at a Frankfurt Kurnit, representing high profile clients in gaming, advertising, and film/tv. Rick also has in-house experience at CJ ENM and Marvel Studios. He was CJ ENM America’s Head of Business and Legal Affairs, where he worked on brands including Best Picture Winner “Parasite,” “Snowpiercer,” KCON, and OGN Esports. He also clerked at Marvel Studios, where he worked on projects including “Doctor Strange,” “Black Panther,” “Avengers: Infinity War,” and “Ant Man and the Wasp.” Rick received his JD from USC Gould School of Law, where he served as Senior Editor on the Southern California Law Review. He penned a student note for Law Review (Rick Zou, Note, Stateless in the United States: The United Nations\' Efforts to End Statelessness and American Gender Discrimination in Lynch v. Morales-Santana, S. Cal. L.    Manage and support legal operations for Tencent’s second party studios in North America including Digital Extremes, Inflexion, Klei, and ZAM; counsel and support internal publishing, development, esports divisions and brands including Tencent Games, Level Infinite, and Proxima Beta; supervise and coordinate outside counsel portfolio.Draft and negotiate agreements for production, distribution, procurement, advertising, sponsorship, merchandising, and licensing of video games and other interactive products; reviewed and drafted terms, privacy policies, notices, and content for games, esports events, websites, media, marketing, and other public materials. Counsel business stakeholders on matters related to video game production and development, product launches, intellectual property management, live service management, platform relationships (PlayStation, Xbox, and PC storefronts), privacy, entertainment transactions, public-facing policies, internal business procedures, sweepstakes and promotions, and general business operations; crafted guidelines and policies related to AI usage, sanctions, and media and government relations.
