ABOUT RICK TAPPAN
Rick Tappan is currently Training Center Faculty, Instructor Trainer and ALS Subject Matter Expert for Rescue-One, Training for Life, an education and AED company. He also serves as Principal of BRT Associates, a consulting firm specializing in workplace risk reduction and emergency preparedness. Rick has consulted for numerous corporate & educational institutions concentrating on workplace safety as well as EMS & Corporate training for AHA classes and risk mitigation to include NFPA 101-Life-safety, OSHA and CDC compliance. Rick’s career started in 1978 as a combat medic for the US Army and then a flight medic for the national Guard. He currently serves as a Pro-Board Fire Services Instructor teaching EMS, all AHA Courses, PHTLS TECC, as well as a myriad of safety, emergency preparedness, and EMS classes. Previously he served as deputy director and operations chief for Safety & Emergency Management at the George Washington University Medical Center for 20 years. Rick retired as a Deputy Chief Firefighter/Paramedic for all ground EMS services in Kuwait for DOD in 2013. He also served as a contractor for Health & Human Services, ASPER/OPEO/NDMS, as a safety officer and Hazmat Tech on the All Hazards WMD-DMORT Team, responding to multiple events on a national level. He retired from this position in 2018 after 22 years of service.
