Create RFQ’s, and Perform Total Landed Cost Analysis for Domestic and International Transportation of Automotive parts and components between points in the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America, European and Asian markets. Developed Excel Based “Total Landed Cost Model” to identify Total Landed logistics costs down to individual component level, and costed freight analyses to improve material sourcing and procurement decisions. Issue transportation RFQ’s, analyze carrier cost proposals, negotiate and issue transportation Contracts for various transportation modes (truck, air, ocean, intermodal, rail) to contract carriers to meet the standards and requirements of American Axle & Mfg.Knowledgeable in Lean Manufacturing and Value Stream systems. Analyze and revise carrier base as needed to insure compliance with Quality Programs as related to CQI Objectives. Complete documentation to insure compliance to ISO and Sarbanes-Oxley standards.Implementation of Core Carrier program to reduce scope of carriers in the inbound material program. Carrier compliance to include working relationships as related to the “Material Pull System.” Ensure minimum required quality standards at American Axle’s selected 3PL’s, Global Freight Forwarders and Customs Brokers Partners in North America and across the Globe. Assist 3PL’s, and transportation providers to optimize trucking network, improve transit, and reduce costs, and identify system deficiencies. Various freight reduction initiatives, mode changes, consolidation programs have resulted in a continuous year over year freight savings and cost avoidance. Responsible for maintaining approximately $100-$120 million dollar annual Global freight spend. Carrier / 3PL negotiations to implement / integrate Transportation Management Systems
