ABOUT RICK SPEAR

I am a senior advisor to and executive in the financial services industry who has spent 50% of my career helping to run firms and 50% of my career as a strategic consultant to CEO’s, boards and heads of businesses. As head of strategy, I have helped to architect and manage multi-year growth plans, targeting and growing revenue and profit. I have sized markets, prioritized opportunities, identified customer segments and total wallet, performed competitive analysis and determined relative competitive advantage, worked with senior colleagues to agree the product strategy and aligned technology and operations/customer service strategy and organizations to business strategy. I’ve worked with each functional head across multiple companies, including the CEO, COO, CFO, Chief Product Officer, Chief Technology Officer, Head of Middle/Back Office, General Counsel and Chief Risk Officer. I’ve helped to drive both organic and inorganic growth both to companies I’ve advised and companies that I’ve helped lead. I\'ve acted as head or co-head or COO of high growth business units of both management consulting and financial services firms, with a major focus on team and business building. I’ve been the co-founder and CEO of a successful fintech startup that scaled effectively. I’ve worked closely with Private Equity and Venture Capital firms to source, select, perform due diligence, turn around/improve and fully monetize the value of portfolio investments. As the VC sponsor and founding board member of a fintech startup, I helped create revenue momentum that led to a $350 MM exit, from a $10 MM post money Series A valuation. I’ve been involved in a number of M&A transactions, both in deriving and executing a top down business portfolio strategy, including deal sourcing and spin-outs, deal negotiation, board approval, due diligence, merger integration, and long term strategic growth of the acquired asset.
