ABOUT RICK SHAW
I am a Tax Partner in the International and Employer Solutions teams at S&W, specialising in International Workforce tax compliance and advisory.I am based in Birmingham and passionate about supporting business in or seeking to move into this region with all aspects of people / international / employment tax. I also work a lot with connected services for companies looking to employ or expand into another location for the first time e.g. immigration, relocation or employer of record services. I have over 20 years of experience across a number of international / global mobility / employment matters and have worked and lived in the US and Australia.Key skills:Helping businesses plan for and navigate employment issues and tax compliance for their people, particularly if there is an international opportunity.I also help senior individuals manage and plan for this effectively and compliantly.I work with companies of all sizes on the broad international tax challenges and opportunities which can extend into transfer pricing, corporate structuring, customs issues and getting the people aspects right. My motto is plan ahead! Preparation helps avoid unexpected issues as well as managing efficiency and cost.Life’s not all about tax though! I’m a husband and dad/taxi service to two girls, 7 cats, 3 sheep and many chickens! I’m a keen runner and cyclist especially if it is long and has hills / mud or preferably both! Have just got back into the endurance scene and recently completed Ironman 70.3 Swansea in 2025. Now planning what comes next in 2026.
