Recent Operations Director and Program Manager forAdvanced Tactics and Unmanned Systems Integration Rick Pawlowski led integration and alignment of command production across all NWDC departments and in collaboration with key Fleet stakeholders in training and capability development. As Director and Program Manager, he ensured core command functions and services were fully leveraged to address Fleet identified warfighting gaps and capability shortfalls. Rick coordinated all aspects of unmanned systems capability development, including the generation and development of related Concepts and CONOPS; the integration of technology R&D with experimentation; and ensured key doctrine and experimentation initiatives were developed and cross-walked.Rick is a native of Detroit, Michigan. A retired Navy Captain, he served as a Carrier Air Wing Commander, twice as a Squadron Commander, and as Chief of Staff for NWDC (20••••10). His seven operational flying tours included carrier assignments piloting the E-2C, A-6E, F/A-18F, and SH-60F aircraft with more than 6300 combined flight hours and 960 carrier arrested landings. He served as Commanding Officer of the “Wallbangers” (VAW-117) and the “Greyhawks” (Fleet Replacement Squadron VAW-120). As CAG, he commanded Carrier Air Wing Three (CVW-3) during a highly successful combat deployment aboard USS HARRY S. TRUMAN. His staff officer experience includes serving as a Joint and Component operational planner; Navy personnel placement and officer career manager; Navy doctrine developer; Joint communications operations and planning specialist; and as a political military relations expert. Rick Pawlowski holds an M.A. degree from the U.S. Naval War College (1994) and a B.S. degree from Southern Illinois University (1982).
