ABOUT RICK MCGOWAN

Rick has completed a BSc Honours degree in Sports Therapy at the University of Teesside in 2008, alongside this he has also completed other various qualifications such as The Football Association Level 2 and 3 in Treatment and Management of Injuries in Football, VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage and Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy, Level 3 trained in Kinesiotaping, Focus Level 3 Personal Training, Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral, Level 2 in Kettlebells Instructing, Safeguarding Children Certificate, First Aid at Work Certificate, First Aid Tutors Certificate, Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement, Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice, PTTLLS (Level 3 Teaching qual), UEFA B Licence in Coaching Football, Level 1 & 2 in Goalkeeper Coaching, FA Youth Module 1 & 2 and is also a member of the Society of Sports Therapists, Football Medical Association and an FA Licenced Coach. To gain more hands on knowledge as well as these qualifications Rick has also had some definitive work experience, working at Darlington Football Club (2007-08) and Doncaster Rovers Football club (2005) with the senior professional players at both clubs. Rick has also had experience of working with youth team players from 16-18 years at Nottingham Forest (2006) one of the country’s leading academy teams and at Astrea Academy Woodfields (AKA: Balby Academy of Sport) where Rick is the onsite academy sports therapist (2008-present). Whilst gaining his sports therapy qualification at the university of Teesside, Rick also worked in the university sports injury clinic (20••••08) gaining valuable experience with all types of injuries not just football related. Rick also works Doncaster Rovers FC as sports therapist on a part time basis working with players aged 6-18 years.
