ABOUT RICK LARNERD

I\'ve had a long and storied career which began in the early 1980s as a U. S. Army Infantryman. After serving for 6 years, I was blessed to have spent the next 22 years as a Pennsylvania Game Warden. I also spent 5 years as a P/T Boating Officer with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency after retiring from the Pennsylvania Game Commission. In 2010, I became a certified Tennessee police officer. In 2011, I was promoted to the position of Chief of the police department in which I began serving in 2010. On February 27, 2018, after thirty-one years and a devastating personal loss, I retired from law enforcement on my son’s birthday. But I found that I\'m like a shark-if I stop swimming, I\'ll sink. On June 24, 2020, I put the uniform back on and am now a part-time court officer with the Putnam County (TN) Sheriff’s Department. Being semi-retired gives me much-needed time in my shop!In my spare time, I immerse myself in my love for early American history by building high-end flintlock rifles doing business as,\"Gobbler Knob Longrifles.\" You may find my website and Linkedin to view how I \"Recreate 18th Century Americana.\". I also write. I’ve written a book about my career as a Pennsylvania game warden entitled,\"The Thin Green Line - A Thumbnail Sketch of the Career of a Wildlife Conservation Officer in Rural Pennsylvania\" and another about surviving the crippling effects of grief entitled,\"Coping with Grief - Surviving the Unexpected Loss of a Child.\" I\'m in the process of compiling 16-years worth of natural resource conservation newspaper columns into a book entitled,\"The Thin Green Line - 16 years of Pondering.\" I have just finished a work of non-fiction for Tweens entitled,\"The Mystery of Gasparilla Bay.\", Set in present-day Gulf Coast of Florida, this is a thrilling tale about pirate treasure, an alligator poacher, and a game warden. Good stuff!I\'m planning on living forever. So far, so good.
