About Rick Gordon

Rick Gordon is an expert on technology investing, business strategy, and early-stage venture development. He is a proven leader with more than 25 years of experience in providing organizations with strategic growth. Rick is currently the CEO of Tidal Cyber, a leading provider of threat-led defense products and services.Rick previously served as MITRE Managing Director of Programs, leading programs for MITRE Engenuity, a tech foundation for public good dedicated to solving problems for a safer world. In this role, we was responsible for the growth and operation of multiple initiatives, including the Center for Threat Informed Defense (CTID), ATT & CK® Evaluations, and MITRE ATT & CK® Defender (MAD) Training. Rick formerly led the creation of the early-stage investing arm of Inova Strategic Investments, the corporate venture fund of Inova Health System. At Inova, noteworthy investments in health technology include Deciphex, CMT Solutions, Cyrano, and Babyscripts. Rick also served as EVP Corporate Development and Member Board of Directors at NS8 and as the founding Managing Partner of MACH37 Cyber Accelerator. Under Rick\'s leadership, MACH37 launched several leading cybersecurity companies, including Huntress, Syncurity (acquired by Swimlane), Atomicorp, Black Kite (formerly Normshield), Adlumin, Threatswitch, Virgil Security, and Cyber Algorithms (acquired by Thycotic).Before this role, Rick served as Vice President of Product Management at KEYW Corporation, where he helped the company launch a commercially focused cybersecurity product line. Rick was also COO of Lookingglass Cyber Solutions, Inc, where he ran strategic planning and day-to-day operations of this early-stage cyber threat intelligence platform company. Previously, Rick served as Managing Director at The Civitas Group, responsible for leading the commercial strategy consulting business. Rick was also a founding board member of Invincea (acquired by Sophos). In these roles, Rick has worked with senior private sector and government officials to solve critical security challenges, evaluated emerging growth security companies for investment, and was a frequent contributor and speaker on such issues as cloud security, cyber intelligence, and security innovation.Rick was previously CEO of Tovaris, was a technology investment banker at Bear, Stearns & Co, and served as a submarine officer in the U.S. Navy. He received his MBA from The Darden School at the University of Virginia and his BS in Engineering with Merit from the U.S. Naval Academy.
