Supportability Engineer | Type 31 Transition | 22 Years Naval Engineering Leadership | ILS & Asset Management​I am an Engineering Manager with 22 years of mechanical and electrical expertise gained within the Royal Navy, now applying that frontline experience to the future of the fleet as a Supportability Engineer at Alan Webb.​Throughout my career, I have led high-performing teams across critical infrastructure and large-scale engineering operations. A career highlight was managing the diesel section aboard HMS Queen Elizabeth during its flagship commissioning program—ensuring the Navy’s most advanced vessel met the highest standards of operational readiness.​My approach combines technical \"boots on the ground\" reality with strategic engineering management. I specialise in:​Asset Management & ILS: Ensuring complex systems are maintainable and sustainable throughout their lifecycle.​Engineering Leadership: As former Head of Group for diesel systems at Fleet Support Unit (FSU) Portsmouth, I led engineering readiness and compliance across major naval platforms.​Operational Excellence: Expert in preventative maintenance planning, fault diagnostics, and the safe operation of complex systems under high-pressure conditions.​People Development: A qualified instructor and Divisional Officer, I am passionate about mentoring personnel and building engaged, safety-conscious teams.​Currently focused on the Type 31 transition, I bridge the gap between design and durability—ensuring that the next generation of frigates is supported by world-class engineering logic.​I hold a Level 4 in Engineering Systems from the University of Portsmouth and remain committed to the highest standards of H&S and continuous improvement.​I’m always keen to connect with fellow veterans, engineering professionals, and those involved in the future of maritime defence.
