ABOUT RICH MURPHY

I am a poet, writer, and independent scholar with 20 collections of poetry. My latest collections, Storage Shed and Inside Stories by Resource Publications and Mind of Europe: A Genealogy to The Fat Man and Susan Constant by Cyberwit were published, following First Aid and Footholds (2023). His poetry won The Poetry Prize at Press Americana twice for Americana (2013), The Left Behind (2021), and Gival Press Poetry Prize for Voyeur (2008). Prophet Voice Now, my book-length collection of essays on poetry and poetics, was finalist in the book contest at Common Ground Research Network and published in June 2020. Currently, I am a guest lecturer at MassArt where I teach Literature in Dialogue and An Artist’s Practice. From 20••••13, I was associate professor of English and writing program director at Bay Path College. From 20••••11, I was an assistant professor at University College, Virginia Commonwealth University. From 20••••07, at Emmanuel College, I was an associate professor of English and writing program director. From North Shore Community College director of Project Enable. Bradford College associate professor of English. I have taught as an adjunct at UMass Lowell, UMass Boston, Salem State College, Merrimack College, Curry College, St. Anselm College, and Endicott College. Along with academic writing courses, my teaching experience includes survey literature courses as Making It New: Bradstreet to Bishop, and Modern British and American Poetry; upper-level literature courses such as French Symbolist and Surrealist Poetry and Contemporary American Poetry; all levels of creative writing courses in poetry and soon an philosophy of practice course. I have also taught in traditional settings, online, and in multi-media and electronic classrooms. Prophet Voice Now is made up of ten chapters and an epilogue on modern and postmodern poetics. Several were formerly published in peer-review journals. Chapters were published in The International Journal of the Humanities, Reconfigurations: A Journal of Poetry and Poetics, The Journal of Ecocriticism, The International Journal of Critical Pedagogy, New Writing: The International Journal for the Practice and Theory of Creative Writing.
