ABOUT RICHARD WATSON
As a professional Civil Engineer with a passion for construction and continuous improvement, I thrive on solving complex problems and delivering high-quality results that stand the test of time. My career has taken me from a remote infrastructure project kilometers north of Winnipeg to a laboratory build on Vancouver Island, each experience shaping my ability to adapt, collaborate, and build with purpose.I am driven by diving into the details on-site, resolving design challenges, coordinating with project teams, and analyzing schedules and costs with precision. I’m process-driven by nature and believe that successful projects are built on strong systems, clear communication, and mutual respect. I approach every task with intention, effort, and a mindset for continuous refinement. One of my favorite quotes, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit.” reflects how I show up at work and in life. Whether it’s ensuring quality in the field or helping a colleague improve, I believe in setting a standard and reinforcing it daily through consistent actions.Teamwork is at the heart of building. I value diverse perspectives and knowledge and believe that collaboration leads to better outcomes. I actively participate in industry organizations and construction leadership groups which keep me engaged with emerging best practices and technologies, and allow me to give back to a field that’s given me so much.Outside of work, I enjoy the outdoors, exploring new destinations, and personal development & wellness. I am currently pursuing my MBA at the University of Manitoba. I find time in nature and travel gives me clarity and energy leading to new lenses to see and solve the problems that arise at work.My goal is to contribute to landmark projects that positively impact the communities around them, leaving a legacy through structures built with quality and pride. Let’s connect—whether to talk construction, personal development, or where the next great project might take us.
