About Richard Wilder

I am a board-certified radiation oncologist who completed his residency and fellowship training in 1993. Since then, I have: 1) gained experience with product development; 2) risen to the rank of Professor and worked as a tenured Interim Chair of a large radiation oncology department with a residency program; 3) served as principal investigator on 8 clinical trials; 4) published 92 peer-reviewed articles; 5) given numerous oral presentations at meetings; 6) helped to train 72 residents and fellows; and 7) worked for leading cancer centers in the US including MD Anderson, Moffitt, and University of California, San Francisco. After providing direct patient care in both academic and private practice settings for 23 years, I transitioned in 2016 to radiation oncology benefits management.

    National Imaging Associates, Inc (NIA, also known as Magellan Specialty Health) is a national leader in managing specialty care under risk-based, capitated relationships. Its mission is to transform the delivery of specialty care by partnering with payers and providers to drive radical improvements in the quality and cost of care. Currently, NIA has over employees, including 132 MDs and RNs and 588 social workers, who work with 80 health plans that have 21 million members. Its Specialty Program includes cardiology, genetic testing (GT), musculoskeletal (MSK) surgery including interventional pain management, physical medicine (PM), radiation oncology (Rad Onc), radiology benefits management (RBM), and sleep. In January 2023, Evolent Health completed its acquisition of NIA from Centene Corporation. Centene and Evolent have a multi-year strategic partnership whereby Centene will continue its ongoing expansion of Evolent\'s Oncology and End of Life solutions. As a member of NIA\'s utilization management team, I provide timely review of radiation oncology and radiology service requests. Also, I routinely interact with physicians, radiation therapists, and nurses, including those who serve on Evolent Health’s leadership and management teams.
