Dr. Richards Afonja is specialized in hematology and oncology. With over 35 years of expertise treating patients with hematologic malignancies using chemotherapy, bone marrow and stem cell transplantation, and cellular therapies. He is currently the medical director of Colfax Oncology LLC a private practice located in New Jersey. He is a highly skilled physician with exceptional diagnostic acumen and a dedication to delivering exceptional patient care. Dr Afonja also founded the American Hospitals Nigeria Limited (a cancer specialist hospital) in 2005. He completed fellowship at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center (A Mount Sinai Hospital affiliate). Prior to that, he completed residency training in internal medicine at Mountainside Hospital, Montclair, New Jersey. He did Internship in internal medicine at the Catholic medical center of Brooklyn and Queens.He is passionate about improving healthcare delivery and providing a broader coverage that solutions the distribution of health related services using electronic platforms and information technology. He established Dokto.com, a global telemedicine corporation in the year 2022. Dokto.com offers long-distance patient and clinician interaction, care, consultation, education, diagnostic, intervention, and remote monitoring.Dr Afonja specialized in adult cancers, hematology disorders and peripheral blood and stem cell transplantation. He has published and reviewed manuscripts in peer reviewed journals. He treats cancer such as solid tumors, neuro-oncology, leukemias and lymphoma and multiple myeloma. Dr. Afonja, is enthusiastic about health education and prevention, also offers cancer screening services and manages benign hematologic disorders including anemia and thrombocytopenia. His professional interest includes innovative cancer care therapy, and he is presently collaborating as a Principal Investigator with clinical researchers on clinical trial projects in order to explore ways to improve novel cancer therapies.
