ABOUT RICHARD POPIEL

Taking care of individuals and their families has been my passion throughout the course of my career as an internal medicine physician and health care executive. As the recently retired Executive Vice President and Corporate Chief Medical Officer at Cambia Health Solutions I have channeled this experience to drive consumer-friendly oversight of medical, pharmacy and network activities, and cost stewardship in health care. This experience will help me well in my ongoing journey to help individuals and organizations as Senior Advisor for McKinsey and Company, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Xploration Health, LLC, Advisory Board member of Echo Health Ventures (Joint Venture between Cambia Health Solutions and Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina), and Advisory Board member of Pager. These new roles are in addition to my current roles as Chair, Classic Wine Auction and Board Member, George Washington University Medical Faculty AssociatesPrior to Cambia I served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Horizon Healthcare Innovations, a Horizon BlueCross BlueShield of New Jersey company, Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey and was also Vice President and Senior Medical Director for The Permanente Company (part of the Kaiser family).
