ABOUT RICHARD DOUGAN

I’m a Chartered Construction Professional (MCIOB) with over 25 years’ experience across construction education, digital construction, BIM, retrofit, and health and safety.My work focuses on BIM compliance and ISO 19650 information management, helping organisations improve the quality, structure, and reliability of their project information. I support clients in aligning their digital workflows with ISO standards, including Revit model review, COBie validation, and Common Data Environment (CDE) processes. My priority is ensuring information genuinely supports project delivery, rather than adding unnecessary complexity.Alongside consultancy, I’m a Senior Lecturer delivering construction, surveying and digital engineering education from Levels 3 to 6. I also work across the UK skills system as a freelance End Point Assessor, Internal Quality Assurer and External Quality Assurer, supporting approved centres across NOCN, Pearson, City & Guilds, AIM, ProQual, and Highfield strengthening compliance, delivery quality and learner outcomes.My specialism lies in competence-based NVQ and apprenticeship qualifications at Levels 3 to 7 across construction, civil engineering, CAD, and digital engineering. This broad portfolio gives me a clear system-level perspective on quality assurance, assessment design, and regulatory compliance.Over the past five years, I’ve supported and reviewed apprentice projects on major UK infrastructure schemes including HS2, Hinkley Point C, Everton Stadium, Co-op Live Arena, the Northumberland Line, and the Piccadilly Line Upgrade.I also deliver corporate team-building programmes based on lessons from outdoor leadership, including guiding a team to the summit of Mount Everest. These experiences help teams develop clarity, resilience, and stronger communication under pressure.I work best with organisations that value high standards, consistent delivery, and practical outcomes. I’m currently open to freelance EQA, IQA, and assessor roles, digital compliance consultancy, or team leadership programme delivery.
