   Richard S. Barnes is a Certified Public Accountant, providing litigation consulting and expert witness services. He has 50 years of finance, management and accounting experience in a variety of diverse industries – as an expert witness, a CFO in private industry and as a Manager with Price Waterhouse. Rick has provided expert witness testimony in over 100 trials and arbitrations. He has testified in U.S. District Courts and State Superior Courts throughout California. Rick has been on the faculty of The National Judicial College since 1998. He has been an instructor for the California CPA Education Foundation since 2001. In addition, Rick has been on the faculty of, or instructed courses for, The Federal Judicial Center, Judicial Council of California – Administrative Office of the Courts, AICPA, Price Waterhouse and Hastings College of the Law, College of Advocacy. He has been a speaker at the AICPA’s National Business Valuation Conferences and the California CPA Education Foundation’s Advanced Business Litigation Institutes. Rick has received awards from the AICPA and the California CPA Education Foundation for his contributions to continuing professional education. Rick has held the following leadership positions within the accounting profession: a member of the AICPA’s Relations with the Judiciary Subcommittee, a member of the AICPA’s Business Valuation Committee, the chair/member of several of the AICPA’s Business Valuation Task Forces, an officer/member of the Board of Trustees of the California CPA Education Foundation, and a member of CalCPA’s Forensic Services Section Steering Committee, which oversees CalCPA’s Economic Damages, Business Valuation, Fraud, and Family Law practice sections.
