ABOUT RICHARD WATTERS
I am a child of the 80\'s and was a big fan of Whitney Houston, and I found inspiration from many of her songs. But the one that stuck the most was Greatest Love of All; and I truly believed that the \"children are our future\". Luckily I had a mom who instilled in me the power of education, and helped me to dream what I wanted my future to be.I didn\'t realize how lucky I was and how lucky other 1st generation college students were, until later in life, to attend college and actually graduate. So many kids have dreams for their future and need the support of family, friends, and a \"village\" to help them achieve those dreams. And so many children don\'t have the support system to help them dream about their future. In my role working at the Boys and Girls Club of Alameda, my primary goal is to ensure that our Club (\"village\") provides our children with inspiration, support and guidance to aid them in their future and to fulfill their dreams. Because in Whitney\'s words, it\'s our job to \"show them the beauty they possess inside\" so they can be prepared to \"lead the way\".
