About Richard W Monroe
Dr. Richard W. Monroe holds a doctoral degree in Engineering Management from Old Dominion University and a master’s of science in Engineering Management from Western New England College in Springfield, Massachusetts. He conducted his dissertation research at NASA Langley Research Center from 1994 to 1997. The results have been presented and published through the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) in 1998 and 2002. Dr. Monroe has presented more than 50 academic papers at regional, national and international conferences on decision sciences and supply chain management topics. He has published a dozen peer-reviewed journal articles in the Business Process Management Journal, International Journal for Agile Manufacturing, International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Systems, International Journal of Applied Management Science and others. His research interests include location decisions, intermodal logistics, supply chain risk management and workforce issues in logistics organizations. Dr. Monroe is a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt through the American Society of Quality (ASQ). He is also a Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) through APICS. Prior to his academic endeavors, Dr. Monroe worked for several manufacturing firms for a period of 17 years as an Industrial Engineer, Project Engineer and Chief Industrial Engineer.
