ABOUT RICHARD W. HANSEN
As a Deputy District Attorney in Colorado’s 4th Judicial District, I represent the People of the State of Colorado in El Paso and Teller Counties and advocate for our community and the victims of crime; I have tried 54 criminal jury trials. At St. Mary\'s University School of Law, I graduated in the top 10% of my class. I was a Staff Writer for St. Mary\'s Law Journal, and a competing member of the National Trial Team - I was later inducted into the Order of Barristers, a national honor society of law students with exceptional skills in trial advocacy. Through a commitment to the Marianist principle of service, I was awarded the Pro Bono and Public Service Certificate. My dedication in all of these areas culminated in the Dean’s Award. Before law school, I was a high performance athlete in rowing and skulling, and trained full time at the Olympic Training and High Performance Center in Oklahoma City. As an undergraduate at The University of Colorado, Boulder, I was PAC-12 First Team Mens Rowing All Conference and PAC-12 Academic Second Team, and in 2015, I was named CU’s Male Athlete of the Year for all sports clubs.
