ABOUT RICHARD SCHULTZ
As the former Cultural Arts Manager at the City of Carlsbad, I was responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of arts and cultural programs and services that enriched the quality of life for residents and visitors. I successfully managed multiple performing and visual arts projects, a dynamic grants program, artists and vendor contract negotiations, responsive outreach, and collaborative partnerships that supported the city\'s strategic vision and goals for arts and culture including the development of a ten-year master plan for the city. My background in theatre, journalism, and education equipped me with the skills and knowledge to effectively communicate, collaborate, and create with diverse stakeholders, including artists, organizations, media, donors, and community members. I am passionate about fostering a vibrant and inclusive cultural arts scene, where creativity, diversity, and innovation are celebrated and valued. As a theatre columnist and arts writer, I also showcased local talent, arts organizations, and businesses, and events through feature stories that enhanced Phoenix and Carlsbad as cultural destinations.
