Hope for Justice is an international non-profit organization working to bring an end to human trafficking. It has an effective and proven model that is replicable, scalable, and widely admired. Globally an estimated 24.9 million people are in some form of forced labor, sexual exploitation or domestic servitude. This generates $150bn annually in profits for criminals. Hope for Justice’s global work, across four continents, is split into four strands: Prevent exploitation: Our outreach teams, self-help groups and community education initiatives empower people to protect themselves and their families from predatory traffickers and their recruiters. Rescue victims: Our specialist teams work closely with law enforcement to identify victims of trafficking and modern slavery, build bridges of trust with them and remove them from exploitation and into safety. They build cases to ensure perpetrators are brought to justice. Restore lives: We work with victims to overcome trauma and rebuild their lives. We offer tailored restorative care initiatives and offer support to meet vital needs, including survivor-centered aftercare in some of the countries where we work. Reform society: We train professionals to spot the signs of trafficking and to respond, and campaign for policy change. We help businesses protect their operations and supply chains from modern slavery. We work closely with federal and state legislators to improve the response to trafficking. Hope for Justice’s Investigative component is operated by licensed investigators who coordinate closely with law enforcement to assist directly in the rescue of all types of trafficking victims. They also act as specialist consultants to law enforcement teams handling trafficking cases. As well as conducting investigations in coordination with law enforcement agencies, the investigative Hub also acts as an alternative pathway for victims too scared to speak directly to the authorities to safely report their situation.

ABOUT RICHARD S.
Over 30 years of terrorism and law enforcement experience, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Central Intelligence Agency’s National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC). He served in a variety of positions throughout his career, ranging from supervisory special agent at the FBI’s headquarters in Washington, D.C, to acting unit chief of the International Terrorism Operations Section at the NCTC’s headquarters in Langley, Virginia. He routinely managed and directed diverse teams of supervisory special agents and intelligence analysts on a global basis and directed senior level briefings involving global counterterrorism investigations and national security issues. Personally supervised or directly involved in numerous international terrorism investigations; such as 9-11, 2005 London Bombings, 2006 London airline plot. Before these organizations, he worked as a special agent investigating violent crime, international terrorism, terrorist financing, cyberterrorism, and organized crime. He was also assigned numerous collateral duties during his FBI tour – including a certified instructor and member of the agency’s SWAT program. In addition to the FBI and NCTC, he is an author and has served as a media contributor for Fox News, CNN, PBS, NPR, Al-Jazeera Television, Al Arabiva Television, Al Hurra, and Sky News in Europe. Additionally, he has authored numerous articles on terrorism and security. He is currently a Professor of Criminology and Homeland Security and works with Hope for Justice – a global nonprofit combatting human trafficking.
