About Richard Renaud

I started my professional preservation career with Interviewing with the President of the firm Mike Quinn and hiring into Quinn Evans Architects in the winter of 2001. I had previously interviewed for the same position in 1992 with the co–founder of the firm David Evans. At that time of my first interview I was still in my undergraduate degree and stretching to try to fit into the position of project Architect. I knew of reputation and work of Quinn Evans and had decided this is who I wanted to work for. Mr. Evans interviewed me personally, appreciated my enthusiasm, but was very polite when he told me I would not be getting the position. He did encourage me to continue pursuing historic preservation and, even though I didn’t get the job, it cemented my decision to work for this firm. I started my career at QEA with the renovations of Hill Auditorium on the University of Michigan Campus. My experience I had gained during my previous contract with the National Part Service Historic American Engineering Record (NPS HAER) served me well with documenting the existing building and working with the designers to surgically modifing the concert hall bring it into the standards of a 21st century performance center. QEA has afforded me the opportunity to touch many historic building and hone my skill as an architect and a building scientist. These include Hill as well as Kingswood School and Booth Mansion on the Cranbrook Educational Community Campus, Knapps Development in downtown Lansing, both the Michigan and Denver State Capitol Buildings, Accident Fund Insurance Headquarters also in Lansing, the National Air and Space Museum on the Mall in DC, consulting on the Undercroft of the Lincoln Memorial, also in DC, and my current assignment, the redevelopment of the Provincial Government Centennial Building in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
