ABOUT RICHARD DALKEY ASHER
I am a media all-rounder and I\'ve made constant use of my skills, primarily covering sport and travel - and more recently working on marketing content - for almost 25 years since leaving university. For more, see the video link at the bottom of this section, keep reading it, or both! Whether it\'s pure sport journalism, meandering travel features, social media, PR material/campaigns, behind-the-mic audio work or corporate copy writing, I consider very few projects beyond me. My time running magazines has also equipped me with the full range of editorial and project management abilities. I have learned how to manage entire publications from concept to printed/web pages. Editing in these under-resourced times is nothing but a combination of project management, writing and editing. I offer both experience and excellence in all three.I take great pride in my accuracy in the copy editing department. Having edited Golf Punk South Africa magazine almost single-handed, and later worked as a proofreader in the highly regulated pharmaceutical industry, there\'s plenty of material by which I\'m happy to be judged.I\'m also a big fan of radio and have done a few bits and pieces on the broadcasting front since hosting my own sports show on campus radio at Rhodes University. This includes reading Sports Roundup on the BBC World Service. I\'m keen to do a lot more sports broadcasting, and am still aiming to commentate on live cricket, rugby, golf or motorsport one day. Of late, I have also further developed my \'live\' interviewing skills through multiple weekly interviews with a range of subjects, learning how to steer a conversation for up to 30 minutes, following the most interesting leads as I go. I am particularly interested in taking these further on radio or other platforms. I speak French, Afrikaans and Dutch, and can translate text from German, Dutch, Afrikaans, French and Spanish into natural-sounding English.https://youtu.be/iDfhw2gTKfI
