ABOUT RICHARD BERRY

I am a RIBA Chartered Architect with a passion for architecture and a talent for design that has enabled me to gain extensive and continuous experience across multiple sectors throughout the industry since 2011. I have worked on a wide range of new-build, refurbishment, and extension projects. These vary in scale from small interior refurbishments and bespoke residential schemes to larger and more complex projects, including higher and further education, secondary, and primary school projects. With a primary focus on the design of education developments, I have engaged with multiple academy trusts and local authorities to deliver a new £8 million, 80-place S.E.N school, £7 million Arts Centre, £1.1m Sports Centre extension, £1m Modular Science Block and a series of primary school expansions and refurbishments. I have practical experience through all RIBA work stages including feasibility, bidding & funding support, concept design, planning drawings, detailed design, building control applications, construction, handover and experience dealing with complex planning applications. I have undertaken lead designer and project architect on projects up to £6m. I undertook my Master of Architecture and Professional Practice studies while continuing my employment which was challenging but enabled me to simultaneously develop my creative ability while gaining valuable professional experience. This led me to become the head of the Academy with a key deliverable of mentoring and supporting students through their architectural education. Through my education and experience, I have developed a diverse toolset that allows me to seamlessly transition from a sketch idea to a fully coordinated building information model (BIM) using products such as Autodesk Revit, Rhino3D, Grasshopper, SketchUp, 3DS Max, Vray and the full Adobe Suite.
