ABOUT RICHARD MUTCH

I have been working in the maritime industry for over 30 years, starting as deckhand on a trawler, working up to Mate then Skipper of a 19 metre twin rig trawler sailing from Fraserburgh.I left the fishing in 2010 and gained work on the Offshore wind farms situated in Europe as Master of a crew transfer vessel with Windcat Workboats.Over the last Fourteen years I have gained the Master 500GT NC, Class 1 Fishing, Chief Mate for Standby, Seismic & Oceanographic, Officer of the Watch II/I Unlimited and AB certificate. From April 2014 to August 2017 I worked on the worlds largest Windfarm Installation vessel \"Pacific Osprey\" gaining invaluable experience on the construction side while still doing some occasional Skipper work for Windcat Workboats if needed. At the end of August 2017 I started a new challenge as a Lecturer at the Scottish Maritime Academy in Peterhead, delivering a variety of courses from RYA Short Range VHF, Seafish and Fishing courses.Gaining the Teaching Qualification in Further Education in May 2019 was a high point strengthening my position as a Lecturer. In December of 2019 the opportunity arose to sit the oral for the Master 500GT NC giving a command endorsement in the Merchant Navy.In June of 2021 I finalised a dream to work in my local port on Scotlands largest offshore wind farm
