About Richard Moore

I’m the Managing Director of NUMA. At NUMA, We empower our customers in rural Africa to reclaim their time, find new economic opportunities, and live healthier lives by providing safe, convenient, reliable, affordable water. I began my career in safe water delivery by chance. In 2012, I sold my first business and moved to Sierra Leone to start and scale up an agricultural business and along the way needed water for my pineapple farms. With an entrepreneurial and mechanical background, I learned a lot about systemic issues in WaSH, and it didn’t take me long to see the opportunity in professionalizing water services delivery through business, creating new innovations to do this more efficiently, and then the real game changer came when I realized who the customer is that will sustain & scale up safe water businesses = the purchaser & consumer of the product/service…. which is the key to ending the worlds water crisis. I currently live in West Africa with my wife and three boys and write about our experiences living in West Africa as well as what I believe are the challenges and solutions for ending the water crisis globally.
