About Richard Moon

As a professor of anesthesiology and medicine at Duke University Health System, I have over 40 years of experience in clinical and academic practice. I am board certified in anesthesiology, internal medicine, pulmonary & critical care medicine and Undersea & Hyperbaric Medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA), American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM).My research interests include perioperative medicine, and the physiology and medicine of environmental extremes, such as altitude and diving. I have received multiple federal grants to support my research and published over 200 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. I also serve as the Medical Director of the Center for Hyperbaric Medicine and Environmental Physiology, where I oversee the clinical and research activities of the Center. My mission is to advance the knowledge and practice of anesthesiology and environmental medicine through education, research, and innovation.
