About Richard Mangan
Dr. Mangan, formerly an assistant professor for the department of ophthalmology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, is now part of the ophthalmic team in medical affairs for SUN Pharmaceuticals. He has over 30 years experience working in advanced ocular care, with a focus in ocular disease and surgical co-management. He is certified in the state of Kentucky to perform anterior segment lasers and minor surgical procedures.Dr. Mangan is also a national educator and consultant, having lectured and written extensively on such topics as infectious disease, ocular surface disease, advanced corneal procedures, corneal refractive surgery, advanced technology IOL’s, drug delivery and point-of-care technology. He is considered one of the foremost experts in the area of “No Drop Cataract Surgery”, and has special interest in both corneal and lenticular refractive surgery. He also has extensive background in overseeing a dry eye subspecialty clinic offering the latest in diagnostic and treatment strategies.Dr. Mangan has been a clinical investigator in the areas of laser vision correction, advanced technology IOL\'s, as well as for glaucoma and dry eye.Dr. Mangan is on the editorial boards for 3 major publications in eye care (Advanced Ocular Care, Review of Optometry, and PCON) and has his own bi-monthly column in “Review of Optometry” called “Urgent Care” that focuses on the diagnosis and management of Ocular Urgencies and Emergencies.He is a member of the Optometric Council of Cornea, Cataract and Refractive Society and the Ocular Surface Society of Optometry. He is also a member of the AOA and the Kentucky Optometric Associations.
