ABOUT RICHARD M. LAMING
Senior Director, company board member and Company Director. He was recently part of the consortium that won the NLA\'s Re-imagine London international competition for inclusive design.Richard combines a passion for design with understanding of the social and economic factors shaping places. He is equally at home leading visions for places and masterplans as he is providing development advice and assessing the economic and social value of projects. Over his 25 year career he has worked on major regeneration and development projects, founded and grown the national Economics, Business Cases & Funding team at Turley and worked at Board level to drive growth, develop talent and promote real estate digital transformation.His work includes strategies for repurposing town centres, regenerating coastal communities, creating new settlements, major employment locations and infrastructure development. Successes include: helping to secure one of the largest Town Deals nationally (£37.5m, Southport); £38 million funding for acquisition of Blackpool Tower and Winter Gardens; £60 million funding for coalfield community regeneration in South and West Yorkshire; £94 million market renewal funding in Pennine Lancashire and project appraisal and strategy for the £300m National Coalfields Programme. He has also successfully led economic and social case making for large and complex development such as the expansion of Pinewood Studios into a global film hub and making the economic case for the UK\'s first electric arc furnace for steel production. He is currently advising clients on delivery of new settlements with capacity for around new homes and the 4,500 home Holt Town neighbourhood in East Manchester.His company board role currently involves:1. Oversight of the UK Economics team in London, Manchester and Cardiff2. Leading on company strategy and innovation3. Encouraging digital innovation in planning and related services4.
