I am a partner in the Madison, Wisconsin office of Stafford Rosenbaum LLP. My practice focuses on corporate tax law in the areas of corporate and partnership acquisitions and reorganizations, and providing advice on tax optimized debt and equity restructurings, corporate banking transactions, corporate governance matters, tax law and tax controversy matters, succession planning for closely held businesses, and resolving corporate, partnership and limited liability company governance matters including minority equity-holder disputes. Prior to returning to Wisconsin in 1992, I practiced law in San Francisco from 1986 to 1988 with the international law firm of Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro, and in New York City from 1989 to 1992 with Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy. I am admitted to practice law in the states of Wisconsin, New York and California and am also a certified public accountant (inactive). In addition to my private practice, I’m a frequent presenter on business law and tax-related topics. I’ve been fortunate to receive national and regional recognition for my legal and civic pursuits, including being recognized by my peers in The Best Lawyers in America as Madison’s 2013 Corporate Law “Lawyer of the Year.” What I’m known for is providing value oriented solutions in complex transactions, my commitment to excellent client service and a practical approach to resolving issues and reaching closing.
