WORK HISTORY
Senior Scientist @Arbutus Biopharma Corporation
During this time my role included but was not limited to:Design and synthesis of proprietary targeting ligands for conjugation to siRNA for HBV programs. Project currently under IND tox evaluation prior to clinical evaluationDesign and synthesis of \"second generation\" proprietary targeting ligands showing improved CMC profiles with comparable or superior activity metrics relative to bench mark ligands. Design and synthesis of small orally active molecules for use in treatment of Hepatitis B - multi-step de-novo synthesis, route discovery of multifunctional tricyclic pharmacophores with improved in-vitro and in-vivo profiles over bench mark compounds -(product shortly entering clinical evaluation)Design and synthesis of novel cationic lipids with utility in portfolio LNP programs for delivery of nucleic acid therapies, resulting in the identification of a proprietary cationic lipid class with performance close to bench mark \"platinum standard\" formulation with divergent physicochemical properties

I have proven success in solving multi factorial challenges in a time dependent manner. As a natural leader I have guided multidisciplinary teams in diverse industry sectors. I like to lead by example and provide motivation and mentorship for my employees, whilst achieving time dependent goals set by my employers. As a research scientist I successfully represented my companies chemistry research to Merck Research Laboratories for two years, I assisted the Director of Chemistry in laboratory modernization, process effeciency, and integration across different research disciplines. I have extensive therapeutic research experience in diverse fields (Oncology, Thrombosis and CNS disorders) and have been involved in the design, synthesis and scale of two compounds nominated for clinical evaluation and multiple compounds identified for IND enabling tox studies. I have been the principle contributor to several international patents. I like to embrace new technologies and constantly seek self improvement. As an entrepeneur, I proved that I could transition many of my skills to a very different work environment. As the owner of a popular and busy bistro in Whistler BC, I showed that I could rapidly learn new systems, inherit staff without loss of key members or trust, and successfully manage all aspects of employing up to 18 fulltime staff members.
