As of 2022 I\'m in my 20th year of working in civil engineering consultancy and client fields. Having gained a vast and varied past experience across many disciplines, I now head up the Berrys Civil Engineering team which provides consultancy and design services, principally for the developer markets, but also for local government and charity organisations. The Berrys Civil Engineering service offer includes: Highways and Road Safety, s38 s278 s104 s185 Adoption Agreements, Highways Advice and Expert Witness, Flood Risk Assessment and Management, SuDS design and SAB approvals, Sewer Design, Off-Mains Drainage, Structural Engineering, Topographic Survey and Geomatics, and Site Levels Design. However, this list is not exhaustive and we are continuing to add to our service offer. From the concept/feasibility stage, right the way through to detailed design and construction, we provide high quality consultancy services to achieve and excellent outcome and best value for you. At Berrys we pride ourselves on building friendly relationships with our clients, as we believe this creates a great working environment to achieve the best outcomes for a given project. We always work closely with clients and provide them with options and ideas throughout the investigation and design process. Continuous improvement is part of our culture, and we are always looking for ways to better ourselves and to provide designs which maximise the environmental and amenity value from a site, whilst minimising build costs and ensuring that infrastructure can be maintained safely. ABOUT RICHARD HARMAN
Chair of the IHE Mercia Branch Committee. Richard is experienced in securing successful consents for accesses and and adoptable roads. Ability to work with clients and local highway authorities to provide quality development solutions, including off-site enabling works and traffic calming. Negotiation of s38, s184 and s278 agreements. He has excellent knowledge of the various legislation, regulation and standards relating to new accesses, highways, rights of way and construction. Richard has broad highway/road design knowledge, experience and skills. He can advise and provide design solutions for accesses and junctions, estate roads, commercial, industrial and agricultural roads. Transport Statements, Access Statements. Construction Management Plans and Routing Plans. Flood-Risk Assessments.SUDs and drainage. Public realm and BS 7533 paving design. He is a Road Safety Audit Team Leader with a GG119 compliant Certificate of Competence. Richard also has experience in preparing, administering and supervising NEC contracts. CDM and construction Health and Safety advice, process and compliance.
