Lead schematic and harness development for low and high voltage vehicle systems from concept through to prototype and production.• Create detailed schematics and wiring harness drawings from electrical system architecture diagrams.• Ensure electrical designs comply with low voltage, high voltage, high current, and EMC best practices.• Specify system requirements, including communication protocols, functional needs, and physical layout.• Select appropriate wire types for various applications and signal types (e.g, CANbus, Ethernet, power, and ground).• Specify components for harness assemblies such as connectors, terminals, sleeving, and accessories.• Collaborate with internal departments and external suppliers to ensure timely component delivery across projects.• Provide technical solutions during manufacturing build and support fault-finding, offering solutions.• Mentor and train student engineers and apprentices on design tools, component selection, and best practices.• Manage multiple time-sensitive projects, effectively prioritising tasks to meet tight deadlines.• Liaise and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are completed efficiently.• Evaluate and propose alternative materials and technologies to optimise cost, weight, performance, and manufacturability.• Conduct hazard analysis, risk assessments, and DFMEA for electrical components and systems.• Define and execute system-level testing and validation activities.• Support technical and project reviews with customers and internal teams.• Maintain strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, and colleagues across departments.• Ensure compliance with company, customer, industry, and legislative standards.• Continuously improve design processes, procedures, and documentation practices.
