I work for Warning Zone Limited. Warning Zone is a life skills centre who focus on Year 6 Primary School children aged 10 to 11. It is an interactive learning centre which consists of 8 zones: 1) Fire in the home 2) Electricity and Building Sites 3) Alcohol 4) Personal Safety 5) Water Safety 6) Arson 7) Road Safety and 8) Railways. We cover anti social behaviour, peer pressure, risk and the consequences of those risks taken. We also discuss arson, trespassing, hoax emergency calls and the age of criminal responsibility ( when you can be arrested and have a criminal record) that age is ten and we discuss the consequences of having a criminal record how it can affect future work, travel abroad and getting into University. The tour is booked by individual schools. It is a two hour session, with twelve minutes in each interactive zone. The children are taken round by volunteer guides (of which we have over 55) the tour lasts for two hours. Last year from Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland we had 5,765 children visit us in our first year at Frog Island, 7,300 last year and we already have over 4,500 children booked in for this academic year (hoping for in total.)

ABOUT RICHARD GRUDGINGS

About Warning Zone is an interactive Lifeskills centre. The centre is open to all schools who have Year 6 pupils (age 10 and 11) Primary, Independent and special schools attend for a full day visit. The children go round a series of lifelike interactive zones learning how to stay safe both on and off-line. We have our original eight zones dealing with off-line issues they are: Fire Risk in the Home / Electricity & Buildings / Alcohol / Personal Safety with particular emphasis on knife crime, and County Lines / Water Safety / Arson / Road Safety and Railways. The E-Safety Zone is a unique concept using the theme of a retro fairground with no technology in sight. There are 6 games / stalls and each of them has a theme. For example the Phishing Game, the Guess Who Game, Watch the Birdy Game - the new zone tackles such issues as: Online Grooming / Cyber Bullying /the dangers of Phishing and how to stay safe online. The children are able to visit our Safety and E-safety zones, with lunch in between. It is all about interactive learning with no pens or paper required. Our increase in school numbers since 2015 has been incredible. In the last school year we had over 10,500 children visit us from over 250 schools 2018/19 We are constantly trying to update and stay relevant to changes in our society. Knife Crime Awareness & Mental Health Awareness are two areas which we have recently incorporated. Since 2018 we have introduced a new on the road E-Safety presentation called “Roadcrew” which goes out to High Schools and presents to years 7,8,9 & 10 This has been a great success and has enabled us to continue our E-Safety message throughout school education. In this year 19/20 we have presented to over young adults at High Schools and Independent schools throughout the East Midlands. If you would like to visit our zones and have a tour, please contact me on 07•••••••72 or email me at: o••••••••@warningzone.org.uk Lifeskills, Charity, Primary Schools, CSR, Corporates, school visits.
