ABOUT RICHARD GILLESPIE

Being one of the directors in our Southampton office and an audit \'Responsible Individual\' provides me with an enjoyable career where I learn everyday, and help those around me fulfil their ambitions. My role affords me privileged access to some incredibly intelligent, creative, driven and honourable people both within the team and clients who I admire in so many ways. My clients have businesses of all shapes and sizes ranging from small owner managed businesses, to large multinational groups, to charities. The Southampton office has a multi-service offering, where I help to ensure collaboration across departments, ensure all are safe, informed and my colleagues have the resources and support to enable them to achieve what they want to and more. I love watching my clients on their journeys. Learning about how and why they do they things they do on a day-to-day basis, to seeing them make and realise (most of the time) their longer term strategic decisions. The entrepreneurial spirit demonstrated in dealing with Brexit and the covid pandemic just shows how amazing and durable the SME space really is. From the access afforded to me by my clients I always look to make worthwhile recommendations and highlight opportunities to them. Where I am restricted to the advice or guidance I can provide I gladly facilitate the introduction with specialist colleagues, someone within my personal network, or another firm in our BOKS international network. All whilst keeping clients up to date with relevant information through our wide ranging webinars and blogs. Couple everything above with the fact I take great pride in my work where I simply try to bring a bit of personality and pragmatism to every audit, working in close communication with all clients to minimise their administrative burden whilst maximising the effectiveness of our reviews.
